Recess Anyone?

TAKE A DAY OFF
Instead of rushing through your weekend with your list of obligations and activities, take a day off. Let your
kids sleep in. Take a walk. Play a game. Spend time together without technology.

ASK FOR HELP
If your child is struggling with a specific subject at school, schedule a time to talk with his teacher. Find out if extra help after school—or perhaps a tutor—can help your child gain confidence and reduce stress.

TALK WITH KIDS
Health professionals have found stress to be associated with many chronic illnesses. Help your kids identify stress triggers and help them find ways to release their stress.

EAT DINNER
This time of year many families find they eat out more than they eat in. Try to pre-plan meals and prepare healthy snacks for the week ahead. Research shows, eating dinner together builds connectedness
and reduces stress.

CREATE A CALENDAR
If your child is overwhelmed by projects and tests, create a calendar to list their projects. Then, teach your child how to manage their time by doing daily tasks to accomplish the larger goal.

SET GOALS
Revisit your child’s goals for the academic year. Many kids think their parent’s expect more than they actually do. Discuss your goals for your child, and find ways to help them set goals that fit their academic abilities.
