VISIT THE FAIR
A county or state fair can provide something out of the ordinary to do on a date. Besides the rides and carnival games, most fairs also offer free concerts and other entertainment. You could explore your love of animals in the livestock arena and petting barn or take a look at some local artwork. The latest and greatest in automobiles and gadgets is often on display. And don’t forget, you can’t go to the fair without sampling some of the food! Have some of your old favorites—corn dogs, turkey legs, cotton candy and funnel cakes—or try something new, like fried mashed potatoes on a stick, apple fries or chocolate covered cheesecake.

TRASH OR TREASURE?
You’ve probably heard the old adage, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Why not see if this idea rings true for the two of you? Visit some yard or estate sales or go to a flea market, thrift store or antique shop together. Have fun finding unusual items or things that bring back special memories for you. While you’re there, have a contest to see who can find the most ugly or unusual item. You may even want to purchase your finds as a gift for each
other and a fun memento of your date.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
Who knew a selfless day of benevolent giving could be so compelling? Ask those who have tried it and they’ll say it’s something they want to do again and again. It really is true that when you’re good to others, you’re good to yourself. That translates easily to a truly satisfying date. Share with your date ahead of time what you have in mind and begin looking for places to invest your acts of kindness.

NIGHT GOLF
Who plays golf at night? What if it’s so dark you can’t even tell your woods from your drivers? Well, nine holes might be out of the question, but you should be able to see well enough to do some putting on the green closest to the clubhouse. Try purchasing a few glow-in-the-dark golf balls and maybe even some glow sticks to light your putting path.

INDULGE YOUR INNER CHILD
Step back to a simpler time and enjoy some of those activities you most liked doing as a child. Go to a park and play on the playground. For dinner head to the Golden Arches. Order your childhood favorites, and why not treat yourselves to dessert, too? After dinner, head off to the toy store to pick out some of your favorite toys from when you were little—things like jacks, a hula hoop, a Chinese jump rope and building blocks. Buy a  few and then go home and spend the rest of the evening watching cartoons.

ANTIQUE CAR SHOW
Cars and cars and more cars, all wearing a polished shine you can see your face in. Beautiful, bright red classics. Adorable little sports coupes. Cars with fins, cars with pinstripes, cars with colorful flames  lapping at their sides. Music, lights and more excitement than you know what to do with! What a great place to stage a date!
